2018 SOUTH CAROLINA STATE FAIR - OCTOBER 10-21
The State Agricultural and Mechanical Society of South Carolina, an eleemosynary institution owned and controlled by life members, is responsible for the establishment of the South Carolina State Fair in 1869. A self-supporting 501(c)3 non-profit organization, the South Carolina State Fair fulfills its mission to educate young adults by awarding scholarships and since 1997, has granted more than $3 million to South Carolina students.
The South Carolina State Fair is best known for bringing 12 days of exhibits, competitions, food, midway rides and big-name entertainment to Columbia each October; however, the organization operates year-round. Located on 115 acres adjacent to the University of South Carolinas Williams-Brice Stadium, the fair also offers football parking and is a popular venue for major events such as craft shows, home and garden shows, boat shows, civic functions and charitable fundraisers.
The South Carolina State Fair is associated with the International Association of Fairs & Expos (IAFE) and is rated as one of the TOP 50 Fairs in the United States by Carnival Warehouse.
